There’s actually a pretty decent amount of accumulation. I know this isn’t a big deal to opponauts who live in the North, but for reference, this is where I am:

Kinja'd!!!

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , the M3 is nicely tucked away in its garage.

The last time I saw snow like this, I was in Siberia. Obviously, this is not as intense as it was in Siberia.

I saw it was snowing in Tybee and that gave me a primary “what the fuck” but I didn’t think it was gonna show that much.

Nice to see you have your M3 tucked in!

I’m waiting for the storm to come up here to New England. I love the snow so I’m hoping it dumps.

And as a bonus, if we end up getting 6" I probably won’t be coming into the office. I’ll be shoveling all day instead, but I’ll take the trade.

yea this storm is supposed to be a beast. they already canceled school for my kids for tomorrow. Its somewhat unusual to do that before the snow has even started falling. I think we’re looking at 15" and fuck me for not having ordered the carb bowl for my snowblower

When was the last time Savannah got any accumulation? Like 30 years?

So this is what I have to look forward to in about 8 hours... Fun. Every time I look at the weather on the news the accumulation number is higher than the last time I looked.

Pretty wild. Weird question, but do you live in an apartment with a garage? Looks nice.

If it wasn’t on summer tires. I live near an outlet mall, but I’m not trying to crash on the way there.

I do. My apartment is upstairs and it’s got an attached garage, it’s pretty nice.

What’s rent like in Savannah? I need to get me one of those garage things but NJ is torture.

I pay $1000/month. It’s a little expensive for where I am, but the apartment is nice and the garage is included. I think I paid like ~1280 for about the same thing in San Antonio.

Yeah, the roads are pretty fucked right now. I think it’s not all red because there are so many roads closed that there aren’t that many people on the road.

Well it will do REALLY good snownuts in summer tires at least. You can do snownuts in your own driveway just by trying to drive forward lol. Im surprised you can run summer tires in a place it gets wet in the winter. I’ve been fine in the mid 30s-40s here in California in the morning but its drier than sawdust here. I suppose it doesnt really get cold there either nor snow very frequently, but its gotta at least get cold/wet enough to make summer tires scary.

We haven’t really had any cold rains this year and they did the 22F drive back from Greenville with no problems. So far they haven’t been scary at all.

It’s getting all seasons before next winter.

22F on summer tires has to be a little bumpy at least haha. I know I was up in the high desert a couple weeks ago and saw 28 degrees one morning in the STi. It felt like I was driving on rocks instead of tires.

Maybe the run flat part has something to do with it, they were a little stiff at first but I didn’t notice after about 15-20 minutes into the journey.

You should go do some snownuts and report back with photographic evidence.

Since I’ve got summer tires on, I thought about it, but decided against risking driving somewhere.

Makes sense. The problem there is that there are no plows or salt, so even an inch of snow will get packed down to ice in short order.

Combine that with the majority of other drivers being idiots, and you have the entire city shut down for a day or two until it warms up again.

For us who live down south snow tires are mostly waste of money and space. Seriously how often do we see snow down here ? The snow ties would just sit in the garage until the end of the universe.

If I ever get really rich, I’m going to buy a studded set of winter tires for situations like this. Then I’m going to enjoy tearing up some empty ice covered roads.

There are a couple of us around here, but not that many. I believe this guy has a house around here. I live in Pooler, but it’s easier just to say Savannah, even if I’m not in Savannah proper.

I had a colleague wreck on the way to work on Wednesday. I decided that was going to probably happen to me, so I stayed home. It worked out as the plant was closed for both Wednesday and Thursday.

Always cooler in Pooler!

I’m out in Bryan County ,…but yeah, nobody knows where that is, LOL. I’m close enough to work in Savannah. It’s in the greater Savannah area, especially when traveling I just say Savannah.

Is your colleague okay?
